“We’ve got him on two counts of robbery, assaultin’ a police officer, and resistin’ arrest, but do ya think we can charge him with bein’ in possession of a dangerous weapon as well?” Dee asked. He was trying to fill out the paperwork for the man they’d just arrested.
Ryo frowned. “I’m not sure. I mean, that usually refers to guns, knives and other blades, maybe a baseball bat if someone’s obviously intending to use it as a weapon and not just play baseball.”
“Knuckle dusters count, and nunchucks, throwin’ stars, even bicycle chains.”
“That’s true, but still, when does something become a weapon and not simply a possession?”
“Good question. I guess when it’s used to threaten someone or to cause actual bodily harm.”
“In which case it should count. I mean, he hit you with it. Twice. You needed three stitches. It could’ve taken your eye out.”
“Mm, that’s true, but still… Could get ourselves laughed out of court. How about animal abuse instead?”
“Yes, what he did definitely counts as abuse.”
“How come we always get stuck with the weird cases? Name me one other cop in the entire NYPD who’s been assaulted with a live chicken.”
