The last week had been sheer Hell, but the team had thankfully survived it, more or less. No thanks to the Rift, which had been spitting out items in rapid succession, and the Weevils, who’d apparently decided to have a street festival judging by the number that had needed to be chased back into the sewers.

 
Jack breezed into the Hub carrying several bags and smiled brightly at his dishevelled and exhausted team.
 

“Well, now that the Rift’s quietened down and the Weevil population’s playing by the rules again, I thought we all deserved a treat.”
 

Owen cracked one eye open. “Please tell me you’re givin’ us all a week off!”
 

“A week? All of you? Sorry, no can do, but you can have the next twenty-four hours.”
 

“That’s something I suppose.” Owen levered himself to his feet. “Okay, I’ll be off then. Tosh, you want a lift home?”

 
“Please.”

 
“Wait a minute!” Jack looked alarmed. “What about your treats? The bakers across the Plas just opened; I bought everyone fresh cream cakes!”
 

“For breakfast?” Ianto raised an eyebrow.
 

“We haven’t been to bed yet,” Tosh pointed out.
 

Ianto shrugged. “Ah hell, why not?”
 

Jack was right; they deserved treats.
