Summary: One of the worst parts of being a cop was having to arrest decent people for retaliating against those who delight in making others miserable.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.
“There are WAY too many idiots in the world,” Dee grumbled as he and Ryo made their way back to their car.
“Tell me about it.” Ryo sighed heavily. “And we’ve got way too many suspects. Every person the victim worked with, hell, everyone he ever met, probably had a motive for trying to put him out of their misery.”
“Yeah, too bad they failed. I mean, it was a pretty determined attempt, just bad luck on the would-be murderer’s part that the bastard survived.”
The bullet had gone through the victim’s shoulder instead of his heart. A couple of inches lower and it would’ve been game over. Both detectives had a feeling everyone who’d ever met the man would’ve cheered. He was a racist, misogynistic bully, who, according to his co-workers, reduced people to tears on a daily basis and then accused them of being wimps with no sense of humor. He was also higher up in the organisation he worked for than most of his victims and had gotten several people fired after they’d threatened to report him to management.
“I kind of hate having to arrest anyone over this,” Ryo said. “He only got what he deserved.”
