Home at last, after a long and exhausting workday. Ryo trailed wearily after Dee into their apartment. Pulling his shoes off just inside, he left them by the door and headed for their bedroom to get out of the suit he’d been wearing all day. He felt rumpled, sweaty, and uncomfortable.

“I’m gonna take a shower,” he called over his shoulder.

“Good idea. Mind if I join ya? Saves water. I’ll wash your back if you wash mine.”

“Sounds fair.” Shedding his suit jacket and pants, he draped them over the bedroom chair to deal with later; he’d have to empty the pockets before taking it to the dry cleaners tomorrow, something it definitely needed after the day he’d had. Heading into the bathroom, he fumbled at the wall for the light switch, but for some unknown reason it wasn’t there. “What happened to the light switch?”

Back in their bedroom, Dee burst out laughing. “You’re lookin’ in the wrong place. Try the other side of the doorway.”

“Oh, right, I forgot.” Sighing, Ryo switched the light on.

Minor changes to the layout of Dee’s newly expanded apartment were proving way harder to get used to than the big ones.
