Summary: Torchwood has a responsibility for Cardiff’s Weevils.

It was wise to be wary around Weevils that came aboveground; they could be unpredictable. For the most part they were reasonably peaceable creatures, happy to live out their lives in the sewers, so when they ventured out of their safe haven it usually meant something was wrong. They might be injured, or diseased, or have been driven from a pack after challenging the leader, and that was when they could turn vicious, even going so far as to attack and kill humans.

 
It was why the majority of Cardiff’s resident Weevil population had by now been fitted with microchips. If a tagged Weevil came to the surface, Torchwood’s computers would sound an alert so that the alien could be located and either driven back into the sewers or captured and brought to the Hub for treatment.

 
The tagging was still ongoing, however, as new Weevils still occasionally came through the Rift, and the ones that were already tagged produced little Weevils from time to time. Owen was still trying to come up with some form of Weevil birth control, which was easier said than done.

 
Trudging through the sewers with the team, he groaned. “I hate Weevil Census week!”
