Summary: The archives have been neglected for a long time, but Ianto intends to fix that.

A/N: Double drabble.
 
 


There was considerably more to the Torchwood Archives than piles of alien artefacts and unidentifiable junk, although from the state of them when Ianto had taken over, it was easy to understand why most people had assumed otherwise.
 

Once he got to work sorting, identifying, cataloguing, and shelving, he discovered that in the earliest days, whoever had been responsible for logging what came though the Rift had kept records assiduously. True, a lot of the items were listed as Unknown, or Unidentified, but even those had been assigned a number that could be looked up to learn when, where, and by whom it was found, along with a detailed description of its physical characteristics.
 

Ianto was quite impressed with that long-ago archivist; it was just a shame that such detailed record-keeping seemed to have fallen by the wayside after a couple of decades, presumably because the archives had been seen as low priority compared to weapons and medical research.
 

A short-sighted attitude, to be sure, since along with all the junk, the archives housed all kinds of weird and wonderful technology, but by the time he was done, Ianto was determined to have a complete record of everything down there.
