Ryo should have known he was in trouble from the first time he met Dee, and he supposed he had. At least, he remembered thinking, that first night, with Dee and Bikky asleep in bed beside him, that if Dee liked men, then he might be in serious trouble.
The problem was that Dee exuded some kind of powerful, irresistible personal magnetism that drew people to him, and Ryo, despite all his efforts to the contrary, was no exception. Dee was so alive, so confident in who he was, up to and including his sexuality. He was openly bisexual, the very definition of being out and proud, and even then, Ryo had felt a twinge of envy.
There he was, a year older than Dee, and still clinging to denial like a comfort blanket he should have long since outgrown. And there was Dee, completely unapologetic about being himself, so much so that he immediately started hitting on Ryo, and all Ryo could do was rebuff his new partner’s advances, because he was SO not ready to accept the truth about himself.
Even so, the attraction had been there, repressed and ignored, but no less real for all that. So much so that hanging out with Dee after work, even after working with him for a full shift, was something Ryo actively enjoyed. Despite the pounces, Dee was easy, even comfortable, to be around.
Now here Ryo was, drawn to the man once again, but this time it was different. This time, he thought he was at last ready to take the next step in their relationship, if it could be called that. It was a big step, the biggest of all, but he wanted this, wanted Dee… This time he wasn’t going to say ‘No’ and push Dee away.
