A/N: Double drabble.
It was funny how you could work with someone for years, spend time with them practically every day, and yet still not really SEE them. All this time, and only now was Owen realising that every time he’d looked Tosh’s way, he had in fact been looking right through her.
Maybe it was because the image of Katie had still been in the forefront of his mind, so much that his brain had automatically dismissed her as Not Katie. With the other girls, the ones he picked up in bars and clubs, that hadn’t mattered. The whole point had been that they weren’t the woman he’d been going to marry. The same had been true for Gwen; she’d been convenient, someone he could shag with no strings attached because she’d never leave her precious boyfriend.
Diane had been different, but still safe in a weird way. Perhaps he’d always known deep down that she wouldn’t stay, but Tosh…
He must have been blind not to notice how special she was. Oh, he’d known she was smart, sweet, and caring, but until this moment her strength and beauty had somehow escaped him.
“I’m such a twat.”
Maybe it wasn’t too late.
