Catnaps were an important part of Dee’s work ethic. He couldn’t be expected to work at peak efficiency without at least two naps a day, and it wasn’t as if he put his head down on his desk for an hour or more, just ten minutes here and there. Napping helped clear his head so he could focus on the details of whatever case they were working. A few minutes’ shuteye left him feeling refreshed, invigorated, and proved much more effective than drinking too much coffee.
Ryo was more likely to reach for the coffee than take a nap, claiming naps made him feel lethargic and fuzzyheaded, neither of which were conducive to clear thought. When work was particularly stressful, he tended to get a bit wired on too much caffeine, his mind racing, and Dee wished he could say that was a bad thing, but at times like that, his partner would go into inspiration overdrive, coming up with leads and ideas he might never have thought of otherwise. They’d solved more than one case that way.
Different strokes for different folks, what worked for one didn’t for the other. It was why they made such a great team.
