“Why d’you even wanna watch this?” Dee asked, curious. “You’re not British.”
“I know, but my dad’s family came from Scotland so Britain’s part of my heritage, somewhere along the line.” Ryo glanced up at his lover. “Besides, this is an historic moment. When am I ever likely to get another chance to watch a coronation? The last one happened decades before I was even born, and I’m curious. This is the only time the crown jewels get brought out and used.”
“They’re the ones we saw on display that time in London, right?”
“Yes. The orb, rod, and sceptre, and the crown of course.”
Dee slid onto the sofa beside Ryo. “They’re gonna stick that crown on the king’s head? Man! Rather him than me; that thing looked like it weighed a ton. He’s gonna have a headache.”
Ryo laughed. “Good thing he won’t have to wear it all the time.”
“So where’s the king now?”
“In a carriage on the way to Westminster Abbey. The cameras aren’t focused on that part of the procession at the moment.”
“Huh. Looks at those crowds! Bet they’re gettin’ wet.” Dee grinned. “The Brits sure know how to put on a parade.”
