Summary: Dee is such an honest person Ryo feels bad for lying to him.

One of the things Ryo had first liked about Dee was his honesty. He wasn’t one of those brutally honest people who’d say whatever they thought without caring about upsetting people, but he wasn’t the kind to tell a lie when asked a question, and he was always honest about his own feelings.

 
That also turned out to be one of the things about his new partner that made Ryo uncomfortable. Right from the start, Dee had been perfectly open about the attraction he felt towards Ryo, and even though he’d known on some level that it was the truth, Ryo had always pretended to believe Dee was only joking. It shamed him because it made him a liar in the face of Dee’s natural honesty.
 

‘I wish I could be more like Dee and tell the truth about my own feelings, but I’m too afraid.’ Worse, the fear came from his efforts to hide the truth of his own sexuality from himself, which meant he was lying to two people at the same time. How had he gotten himself into this mess?
 

Wouldn’t it be better just to try honesty for once? What did he really have to lose?
