A/N: Double drabble.
“Who’s that guy?” Dee asked his partner as the well-dressed man passed them in the hallway of the two-seven, heading for the office Commissioner Rose used when he had business to attend to at the precinct. “Some kinda bigshot lawyer?”
“Could be. He looks vaguely familiar, but I can’t quite place him.” Ryo paused to look over his shoulder. “Oh, now I remember! That’s Michael Palmer, he’s a sort of… not sure if impresario is really the right word, but he organises charity events. I remember Berkeley telling me a couple of weeks ago that he was thinking of holding a fundraiser to help pay for rebuilding the women’s shelter that got torched last month. Maybe he’s hiring Palmer to organise it.”
“A fundraiser, huh? Rose never struck me as the charitable kind. I mean, he’s rich enough but I’ve never known him to give handouts, not unless it gets him good publicity durin’ an election year.”
“I think it’s probably Diana’s idea. Now they’re getting married, she’s making sure to remind him of his civic responsibilities.”
“Good luck with that.”
“I don’t think he dares tell her no.” Ryo grinned. “Diana would make his life hell if he did.”
