A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto frowned at the huge tank and started counting again. “Nine, ten, eleven, twelve…” No, it was no use, there was definitely one missing, and that was… not good. If it had been one of the small lizard creatures from next door that had gone missing, it wouldn’t have been much of a problem; they were harmless, and relatively slow-moving away from their heated home.
Spider mice, on the other hand, moved fast, were naturally curious, and although most of the team considered them weirdly cute, the fact that they had eight legs did not serve to endear them to the man in charge.
“Right, I’d best go warn himself that your friend has gone walkabout.” Ianto checked the tank was secure, counted the creepy creatures again, confirming there was still one missing, and headed up to the main Hub, clicking his Bluetooth earpiece on as he went. “Tosh, I seem to have misplaced a spider mouse. Can you see if the Hub’s sensors can track it?”
“On it,” Tosh assured him.
It turned out to be unnecessary. As Ianto approached Jack’s office, he could see Torchwood Three’s fearless leader standing on his desk.
“Never mind. Think I’ve found it.”
