“Buns!” Ryo said suddenly, straightening up from where he’d been bending over an open filing cabinet drawer, searching for some misfiled paperwork. “I don’t have any buns!”
“Uh…” Dee started, sounding bemused, staring shamelessly at his lover’s shapely rear. “Gotta disagree with ya there, babe.”
“What?” Turning, Ryo caught the direction of his partner’s gaze and blushed. “Not what I was talking about, idiot! I just realised it’s almost Easter, and I was going to bake my own hot cross buns this year, I found a really good recipe online, but what with work, and Easter being way early this year, I just haven’t gotten around to it, and now I’m probably not gonna have time.” He sighed, disappointed. “That means I’ll have to buy some, and with my luck, all the good bakeries in the city will be sold out and I’ll have to settle for some from the supermarket.”
“Why don’t ya go shoppin’ at lunchtime?” Dee suggested. “I’ll cover for ya if ya get back a bit late.”
“While I appreciate the offer, if I don’t find the witness statements for the Wildman case, I’ll be here all night.”
“I’ll keep looking, you go get your buns.”
The End
