Ryo paused before leaving his apartment for his first day at the twenty-seventh precinct. If he was completely honest with himself, he was a little nervous. Although this was what he’d wanted all along, what he’d been working towards ever since he’d first entered the police academy, it was still a big step up from uniformed officer to detective. He’d be working in a different area of the city, alongside people he’d never met before, and he could only hope he’d make a good impression on his new colleagues.
With that in mind, he ran a quick check, making sure he’d got everything. His service weapon was in his shoulder holster, extra ammo clips were right where they should be, and his taser was clipped to his belt. Phone and wallet, complete with his shiny new detective’s shield, were in his pockets, so were his handcuffs and the keys to them. Apartment and car keys were in his hand. Was he forgetting anything? He didn’t think so.
Looking down at his feet, he nodded to himself. Shoes, check. Overcoat? He picked it up, taking a deep breath.
This was it! He wondered what his first case was going to be.
The End
