Ryo woke slowly, dimly aware that something hurt, then came to the unpleasant realisation just about EVERYTHING hurt. He was so stiff and sore he could barely move, and he had a feeling he might have been lying in the same position all night. He groaned.
“Mornin’, babe. Was wonderin’ when you’d wake up.” Dee offered his lover a lazy smile.
“Morning?” Ryo asked, a bit uncertain as he carefully turned his head to look at the clock on the nightstand. “It’s almost one in the afternoon!”
“Ah, close enough.” That was Dee all over, seldom concerned with accuracy when it came to anything that wasn’t work-related. “How’re ya feelin’?”
“I hurt all over.” Ryo turned to look at his lover, confusion written all over his face. “What were we doing last night?”
“It’s not last night that’s the problem, from what I recall we pretty much just crashed after we got home. Ya might wanna try thinkin’ back a bit further.”
“What’re you talking about?” Ryo frowned, thinking back, and then the penny dropped. “Oh. St Patrick’s Day.”
“Now ya got it.” Dee’s smile was lopsided. “And for the record, I hurt as much as you do. Feel like I was trampled by a herd of stampedin’ cattle.”
“That’s not so far from the truth.” Ryo winced as he manoeuvred himself onto his side. “I was expecting it to be a bit hectic, it usually is, but I swear I’ve never been stepped on and kicked so much, not even on riot duty.”
“Yeah, the dancin’ was a bit… energetic. So was the fightin’. Least we don’t gotta work today.”
“That’s a good thing, because I think it’ll take me at least half an hour just to get out of bed. And why am I holding a pair of pyjamas?”
“I gave ‘em to ya last night to put on, but I guess ya were too tired to make the effort.”
“I don’t even remember getting undressed,” Ryo admitted.
“You were pretty much on autopilot. Ya got most of your clothes off before ya ran outta steam. Y’know what we need? A long, hot soak in the tub.”
“That sounds like heaven. Only trouble is, the bathroom’s too far away.”
Dee chuckled. “C’mon, I’ll help ya up if you’ll help me. We’ll go soak our aches away, and after that… Welp, guess we’ll see where the day takes us.”
The End
