A/N: Double drabble.
“Don’t panic, and whatever you do, don’t run,” Ianto whispered, doing his best to keep calm. This was supposed to have been an easy Rift retrieval, and it had been in so far as they’d found what they were looking for without difficulty. Unfortunately, Ianto and Torchwood’s newest recruit, ex-PC Alun Evans, had been halfway back to the SUV when they’d stumbled across a trio of Weevils.
One Weevil would have amounted to little more than an additional training exercise. Two might have posed a minor problem, but three was a bit much, especially since Alun hadn’t been on a Weevil hunt yet. The only experience he had with the toothy aliens was observing Janet through the thick Perspex of her cell.
“What should we do?” Evans asked, keeping his voice as low as Ianto’s.
“Back away slowly. Right now, they’re only interested in the contents of that dumpster, so we don’t want to draw their attention if we can avoid it. Last thing we need is a pack of Weevils at our heels. They might look ungainly, but they’re fast.” Ianto drew his gun, just in case, but he didn’t breathe easy until they were safely around the corner.
