Summary: Ryo wonders what their lives would be like if he, Dee, and Bikky had never met.
Written Using: The tw100 prompt ‘Alone’.

A/N: Triple drabble.
Sometimes Ryo found himself wondering what his life might have been like if he’d been assigned to a different precinct and never met Dee or Bikky. Would he have gone on living in denial over his sexuality? Might he have eventually settled down with a woman, gotten married, maybe even had kids?
He supposed that was a possibility, but when he tried to imagine that kind of life, he couldn’t. In truth, it was more likely that he would have devoted himself single-mindedly to his career, perhaps turning down dates with the excuse that he didn’t have time for a relationship. He thought that would be a horribly cold and lonely life; no matter how successful he was in his career, it wouldn’t keep him warm at night.
And what of Bikky? Chances were, he would have been passed around from one foster home to another until he reached eighteen, probably winding up with a police record long before then. And Dee? Well, Ryo was sure Dee would have fallen on his feet without him, he wasn’t the kind of man who would ever have to be alone if he didn’t want to be, but would he have found someone else to settle down with, build a life with, or would he have simply continued playing the field?
There was no way of knowing, but one thing Ryo was certain of was that all three of them were living better lives than they might have if they’d never met.
Maybe Dee was right, and it had been fate, destiny, whatever you wanted to call it that had brought them together the day Ryo had arrived to start his new job as a detective at the two-seven. Walking into the precinct, he’d had no idea how completely his life would change.
