A/N: This one’s a triple drabble.
Being late for a date was a woman’s prerogative, Carol thought, taking her time getting ready. After all, she couldn’t rush doing her hair and makeup, not if she wanted to look her best, and as for choosing what to wear… that was an important decision. She could hardy just grab the first outfit from her wardrobe; she needed to select something appropriate for where they were going, preferably something Bikky hadn’t seen her wearing before, and then she had to pick out matching accessories…
Okay, so Bikky probably had no idea how much time and planning was required when a woman was getting ready for an evening out, he’d probably just pull on whatever he had that was clean; boys were like that.
But even when Carol was finally ready, Bikky still hadn’t arrived to pick her up. She was on the verge of phoning him to check everything was alright when the doorbell rang.
Carol answered it, ready to rip into her boyfriend for being so late, but she forgot all about it when she saw him standing on the doorstep, looking dashing in a suit and tie, his hair immaculate, and the toes of polished shoes peeping from beneath the cuffs of his pants instead of his usual scruffy sneakers.
“Sorry I’m late,” Bikky said sheepishly. “My tie wouldn’t go right, I had to ask Ryo to fix it, but he got stuck in traffic on his way home. I would’ve phoned, but then I’d have been even later. You look amazing; is that a new dress?”
Shaking her head, Carol smiled up at her boyfriend. “You look wonderful too.”
“It’s a special evening; I thought I should make an effort. Are you ready to go? Our reservation’s for eight-thirty.”
Carol took Bikky’s hand; everything was perfect.
The End
