A bit late perhaps, we're into the afternoon of Christmas Day here in Britain, but nevertheless.....

Here, have a sparkly fellow for Christmas!

It's beyond the afternoon here, full night in fact. It was actually above freezing today and raining. Our house is no longer an ice-box, thanks to maintenance putting weatherstripping around the front door. The floor is even somewhat warm as you walk through the entry! No snow, though. That's a bit of a bummer.

Today is good! It's dark out now and a bit windy, but quite mild. The sun was shining earlier so it was pretty and bright, so different from the sub-zero temperatures last year and much nicer!

Haven't had Christmas dinner yet - it's cooking though and should be ready soon. We don't do the huge dinner thing these days, we've got turkey pieces because neither mum nor I can lift a whole turkey in and out of the oven without dropping it. Arthritis is not helpful. There are mince pies for after - very traditionally British, lol! No Christmas pud because mum's never liked it and I can't see the point just for me. Mince pies are better anyway! We all liked our gifts and soon it will be time for Doctor Who. Christmas is good =)

It's still Christmas morning here in Southern California (just barely) and Christmas roast is in the oven.

I know many of us have had a rough road this year, but we're still here writing Torchwood stories and reading the Torchwood stories our friends write.

Thank you sweetie for the Nosy-verse stories; they always brighten my day and make me smile.

Merry Christmas and a joy-filled New Year 2012 for you and all our friends.

The writing of the next Nosy-Verse story got a bit held up, but I'm hoping to get back to it soon. Nosy's been in a bit of a stupor since the coffee bean incident, but I'm hopeful it will feel more lively now we're heading towards spring!

Hey! I'm here as much as on LJ these days - I keep both my journals open and logged in all day, so you'll always find me here if LJ is acting up - I'm never more than a comment or an email away! You have my email address don't you? If you do, feel free to use it any time, if you don't, let me know and I'll PM it to you. I'm online most of the day every day (except on the rare occasions I go out) and I check my emails frequently. There's a time difference of course with me being in the UK. *hugs*

To find your inbox here, click on 'home' to go to your homepage, look below the pink line that's under your name and icon, there are five words with pink swirls beside them. Hover over 'read' and you'll get a drop down menu - inbox is near the bottom of that. Use a full screen window or you might not see the full menu! I kept not finding things until I realised the drop down menus often continued beyond the edge of my window, lol. I take time to figure things out, but I get there in the end!

LJ is a bit of a pain at times! I'm so glad I have dreamwidth as well so I can keep in touch with a lot of people even when there are LJ problems. I feel less isolated that way.

Ok, I finally got your posts in my mailbox, stupid Yahoo doesn't always work well notifing me. Can I ask how I write in your user name like we did in LJ? You know for your name I would put badly_knitted Is there a DW thingy here? lol!

Haha! Yes there is, and if you check what you just posted, you'll see it worked! Can I ask how you do that? Because when I write someone's use name in a comment box here or on LJ, I never get the proper use link, just typed words!

And that should say USER both times - I'm a one finger typist, but sometimes it seems I type too fast for the computer, lol!

Yay! You got it! I am usually terrible at telling people how to do that stuff. I'm pretty good at the computer, but learned after they started using Windows, so feel a bit stupid about using tags and whatever. :/

BTW. I can't spell very well...BEWARE! LOL! I spell check a lot.

I'm very good at spelling (which is why I do beta work) but dreadful at typing. I'm forever hitting the wrong keys (just did it again and typed kets o_O)

I'm also quite useless with computers. Better than I used to be, but I don't understand html and technical stuff goes right over my head, lol!

Went to wrap a present for party tonight at my parents. Our last Christmas, lol!

You make me laugh! I have always wondered how people can type with one finger. How did you learn where all the letters are. If I try to remember where a letter is without my keyboard, I have no idea. Not making fun of you, you actually have a talent. I think Stephen King types all his books that way, I think that is him? My memory is going too...probably told you that...ha ha! I forgot if I forgot! *lays on floor*

I soooooooooo suck at spelling! When I was in 12th grade, they did these "California Acheivement Tests" and I would get 12 and 13th grade in composition, but 8th grade spelling?...how does that even make sense? I can write great papers, but have to spell check, or at the time I carried a small dictionary around with me at school, well when I got to college. lol!

What is beta work?....I'm so duuuuuuh.

I may have to read your replies later, I have to go get me and my son ready for our party tonight. Not much time left. See you later! :D

I have to look at the keyboard to see where the keys are, and I still hit the wrong ones, lol! I never had an opportunity to learn touch-typing, so I just have to do the best I can. I'm quite fast typing Torchwood! I've had lots of practice so I can find the letters fast!

A beta reader is someone who's basically an editor for fanfiction. Author's seek us out to get their spelling, grammar and punctuation checked, or for help with characterisation, or just to make sure what they've written makes sense. I love doing it. I just betaed zazajb's Ianto Big Bang story and now I'm doing another Big Bang for someone in Australia.

Also, thanks for your help! I've learned a new skill, guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.

The people who run dreamwidth used to work or volunteer with LJ, so a lot of dreamwidth stuff works the same as LJ, or at least the same as LJ used to before they started messing around with it!

Yep, I have an extremely boring name, which I hate but have had for 49 years so I guess I'm stuck with it. My parents wanted a name that couldn't be shortened, damn them! At least my sister got to be called Heather, which is quite a pretty name. That's what I get for being born second =( My name just sits there like a lump and all you can do with it is make it longer - and I hate that even more!

I like your name. My leagal name is Deborah, pretty I guess in writing, kind of don't like the way it sounds, so I shortened it. My parents rarely call me Debbie. My husband always calls me Debbie or Deb or some silly combination....why am I talking about my name so much?

Oh my gosh, I am 45 years old. We are close in age. I wondered. :)

Yeah, not so far apart in age! It's amazed me the range of ages in the Torchwood fandom! I thought I was an oldie, but I have friends on here in their 50s (I'll join their ranks in a couple of months!) and some in their teens too, and everything in between. It's brilliant! I love the way that age doesn't matter here, we all get along and learn things from each other. Plus a lot of us are interested in crafts which is also fun. There's so much to share beyond the fandom which unites us.

Oh, I'm yawning my head off here! It's 11.30 at night so I guess I'd better head to bed soon before I fall asleep across the keyboard!

Hey, dead tired, back from party at parents house. It is 2:06 a.m. May die now!

Where do you live, if I can ask, it maybe on your LJ? I read you were going to bed and the time here was around 5:30 p.m. on my email...when it was 11:30 p.m. your time.

I'm going to bed soon too. Can't believe we are all still up at this ridiculous hour.
I'm so sleepy, but my stupid meds. make my heart beat too fast sometimes. I just took some pills that I hope will calm me down.

I'm in England, just about in the middle of the country, Nottinghamshire. I've lived here all my life - literally. I was born in this house. Not the worst place to live =)

Hope you enjoyed your party! I did finally get to bed around 1am, there was so much I had to do first, including making sure mum went to bed. She dozes off in front of the TV downstairs, lol! Well, she is 80, so I suppose it's to be expected.

I'm having a nice, quiet day, apart from the usual chores. The weather is mild, such a difference to last year when there was still thick snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures. I much prefer this!
