There were days Bikky almost had to pinch himself to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. Here he was, barely fifteen, and he was dating the prettiest girl in the whole school, maybe in the whole of New York.
Carol Baker, three years his senior, with her long blonde hair, blue eyes, and beautiful smile; every boy she met wanted to date her, but whenever anyone asked her out she turned them down, because she was his.
They’d been best friends forever, since long before Bikky had seen girls as anything more than playmates. He’d kissed her for the first time when he was ten and she was thirteen, and she’d told him she wasn’t going to date anyone until she turned eighteen. She hadn’t kept to that vow, she’d been on one date with another boy, but that had almost ended in disaster. Sensibly, he’d never asked her for a second date; she probably would have punched him if he had.
Carol and Bikky had been together for more than a year already, but while other boys seemed to have a new girlfriend every month, Bikky knew there was no one for him but Carol. She was everything he could possibly want and she knew him better than anyone.
Best of all, she loved him, she’d told him so just last night and he was still floating on air. He wanted to shout it from the rooftops for everyone to hear, “Carol Baker loves me!” but he had a feeling she wouldn’t be pleased if he did, not because she was embarrassed about dating someone so much younger, but because it was no one else’s business. That just made Bikky love her all the more.
One day, he knew he was going to marry her; then they’d be together forever.
The End
