Summary: Tosh reflects on what she’d heard while wearing Mary’s pendant.

The pendant Mary had given her, that tiny, delicately pretty piece of jewellery, had turned Tosh into an unwilling psychic. Before she’d worn it that first time, if asked, she would have said it would be fascinating to read people’s minds, to hear their innermost thoughts, but the reality had left her cold.

 
Most people’s inner thoughts were either completely inane ramblings or things no one would want to hear, or at least that was Tosh’s experience. She’d been subjected to Owen’s scorn and Gwen’s cloying pity, had a ringside seat for their memories of their recent sexual encounters, had experienced second-hand Ianto’s depression and self-disgust, while Jack’s mind had been a blank wall. What was he? Some kind of psychic himself? Had he felt her trying to reach into his mind? And why had she even wanted to?

 
The only good thing that had come out if the entire debacle had been saving that woman and her kid from her ex.
 

Now it was over. Mary was gone, despatched to the centre of the sun, but Tosh couldn’t simply brush off the things she’d heard. She was stuck with the memories. How could she ever face her teammates again?
