When Ianto went up to Jack’s office to collect whatever his lover had waiting to be filed, he expected to see a neat stack of folders in the outbox, and the inbox almost empty. After all, Jack had been working uninterrupted for several hours; that was more than enough time for him to put a serious dent in his backlog.

 
Instead, to his displeasure, he found a paltry handful of files in Jack’s outbox while the contents of the inbox seemed to have barely gone down at all. He sighed heavily.
 

“That’s all you’ve done? You’ve had all morning! Why do you always have to be so slow with your paperwork?”

 
“Because I hate doing it.” Jack scowled at the teetering pile, as though willing it to disappear. Naturally it didn’t.

 
“So sitting there staring at it and making it drag on for hour after hour is better than getting it done quickly and freeing your time up for something more enjoyable? All you’re doing is torturing yourself, because you know it’s got to be done. Putting it off just makes it last longer.”
 

Jack frowned. “I never thought of that.”
 

“So you’ll get it done?”
 

“I suppose so.”
