“Ianto? Can I see you in my office?”

 
It had been barely two weeks since Ianto had been permitted to return to work following his month-long suspension, and he flinched. What did Jack want now? The rest of the team had already left for the night, but with nothing to go home to, and no social life to speak of, he’d stayed to finish cleaning up, dragging the task out as long as he could. Still, when the boss called…

 
Putting his binbag down, Ianto made his way to Jack’s office.
 

“Sir?”

 
“Sit, please.” Jack indicated the chair across from him.

 
Ianto sat, poised on the edge of the seat.
 

“Relax, I’m not gonna fire or Retcon you, I just…” Jack sighed. “I wanted to apologise. I said things to you, made demands, that I shouldn’t have, but I need you to understand why I reacted the way I did. Truth is, I was scared. All I could think was that there’d been a Cyberman in my base for months and I had no idea. I’ve encountered them before, know how dangerous they are, and I panicked.”

 
Jack sounded sincere; that was unexpected. What could Ianto say?
 

“I’m sorry too.”
