Summary: Dee and Ryo have run out of suspects in one of their murder cases.

“I hate cases like this,” Ryo grumbled as they released the last of the people they’d brought in for questioning. “I almost prefer the ones where we have no suspects at all.”
 

“I know what ya mean,” Dee agreed. “Two weeks of runnin’ down leads and we’re right back at square one, nothin’ to show for all our hard work.”

 
Two days ago, they’d had a list of seven people with motives for killing the victim. They’d all been rounded up and interrogated, but every last one had an alibi, and not of the ‘I was at home with my wife’ variety. There was no way any of them could have committed the murder.
 

Ryo sighed. “Okay, let’s look at this from another angle. Maybe one or more of them hired someone to do the job for them, arranging it for a time they’d be someplace else, surrounded by people who could vouch for them.”
 

“In which case we still have seven viable suspects. We should check their financials, see if any of them have withdrawn large sums of money from their accounts,” Dee suggested.

 
“Or there might be someone else wanted this guy dead.”

 
“Yeah, like everyone he met.”
