There was nothing Dee could do except watch. His natural instinct was to rush in and try to be the hero, save his partner from the thug attacking him, or failing that, just shoot the bastard, but he knew he couldn’t.
 

For one thing, trying to shoot in such a confined space risked hitting Ryo, or any one of half a dozen innocent bystanders, if not directly then because of a ricochet. On top of that, Dee had his hands full with the man they’d come here to arrest. Just because he was already handcuffed didn’t mean he wouldn’t try to get away, given half a chance.
 

Besides, as much as Dee might want to be the hero, saving his lover to prove himself in some way, Ryo was more than capable of taking this asshole down.
 

Dee felt a surge of pride as he watched his partner twist aside to avoid the slashing knife blade, grab his attacker’s wrist, wrench his arm up behind his back, and force him to his knees.
 

“Dude, with moves like that you oughta be on Dancin’ with the Stars!”
 

Cuffing his attacker, Ryo snorted. “I’m not a star, Dee.”
 

“That’s what you think.”
