A/N: Triple drabble.

It shouldn’t have been funny, but for some unknown reason it still was, even though someone could have been hurt. Ryo and Dee had been helping clear a patch of wasteland for a community project, which had so far involved clearing enough trash and rubble to fill a couple of trucks, then digging up some very persistent deep-rooted weeds and bushes. Everyone had to be careful because there was a lot of broken glass and used hypodermic needles buried in the dirt, but at least part of the area would eventually be paved over, while new topsoil would be brought in for the raised beds.

Having dug down almost two feet, Ryo had been wrestling with a bramble root, trying to tug it out and wondering how much deeper it went. He was putting all of his strength into pulling on it when it suddenly snapped and with a yelp of surprise, he went staggering backwards, still clutching the root. Tripping over the rutted ground and his own feet, he collided with Dee, who’d turned around to see what was happening, knocking him off balance. Dee promptly fell into a nearby wheelbarrow, Ryo landed in his lap, and then the wheelbarrow tipped over from their combined weight, leaving them lying on their backs, Ryo still on top, with their legs in the air.

As they tried to disentangle themselves, they took one look at each other and collapsed in helpless laughter. Around them the rest of the volunteers had stopped what they were doing to applaud and cheer.

“Man, that was like somethin’ outta one of those slapstick comedies!” Dee said, still chuckling as he dragged himself out from under Ryo and helped his lover up. “Maybe we should be chargin’ admission.”

“I’ll pass on the repeat performance,” Ryo replied.
