Spoilers: Cyberwoman.
Summary: Ianto knows now that the ‘Lisa’ he tried to save wasn’t really her at all.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto had never thought of himself as the gullible kind, easily led, or easily fooled, but now he was forced to wonder. How had he allowed himself to be taken in so easily and so completely? Why had he never doubted that Lisa was still essentially herself despite the external… modifications?
The Cyberwoman had known things that only Lisa should have known, but of course it had been able to access her memories, mimic her speech patterns, talk with her voice. He should have realised that not all of the changes made to the woman he loved had been visible on the outside, should have at least suspected there were things going on inside her body, inside her brain…
But he hadn’t, perhaps because he’d wanted so badly to believe she could still be saved. He’d been blinded by love, tricked and manipulated into harbouring a monster that could have taken over the entire world if the rest of the Torchwood Three team hadn’t stopped it.
Lisa, or what he’d thought was Lisa, had been nothing more than an illusion, a veneer of humanity used to conceal the emotionless robot within, and he’d been too distracted to see the truth.
The End
