A/N: Double drabble.
“Okay, that’s not normal.”
Busy making the first coffee of the day, Ianto didn’t look up immediately.
“What around here is?” He finished pouring before turning to his lover. “What is it today that strikes you as unusual?” Jack, despite having worked and even lived in the Hub for decades, could be a bit unobservant at times, not noticing things that everyone else was fully aware of.
“That!”
Ianto followed Jack’s pointing finger, frowned, took a couple of steps closer to the Rift pool… “You’re right, that’s definitely not normal.”
At first, he thought that perhaps a flock of snocks had gone down to the water’s edge for a drink, although the mutated socks seldom seemed to require fluids, but the more he looked, the more certain he became that this wasn’t a group of creatures but one single individual with multiple limbs.
Jack trailed behind him as Ianto cautiously approached the Rift pool, trying to get a better look at the writhing tangle squirming in the shallows.
“Don’t get too close, it might try to pull you in!”
Personally, Ianto thought that unlikely; the creature was too small.
“What is it?” Jack asked.
“Looks like we have a snocktopus.”

Date: 2025-01-12 08:51 pm (UTC)Snocks are Jack's lost socks, which have evolved into snakelike creatures with a knitted texture. My theory is that several socks fell into the Rift pool, combined, and evolved into a life form that looks a bit like a bunch of socks, joined together at one end. Therefore, Snocktopus.
