Ianto had thought he’d never get used to Jack dying, then healing before his very eyes before coming back to life. Seeing fatal wounds basically undo themselves as broken bones and torn flesh, muscle, and skin knitted back together was as mesmerising as it was horrifying; he hated to watch, and yet he could never bring himself to look away. He needed to be ready for the moment when Jack would take that first gasping breath, ready to soothe his lover through those first agonising moments of restored life.

He still wasn’t used to it, not really, but now he was immortal himself, he knew firsthand how it felt to die and then resurrect, knew the pain and trauma of death and revival, had even watched his own body repair itself from minor wounds, healing as if he’d never been injured in the first place.

Chances were, it would always be deeply disturbing to witness the healing process, whether it was Jack’s body or his own going through it, but that was what his future held, living, then dying, only to live again.

“Are you okay?” Jack asked.

“Good as new, apparently.”

Staying with Jack forever was worth the price.

I'm glad they have each other and that it feels worth the price to both of them.
