Flying is the best way to get anywhere, especially long distance or out of the country. It helps that they have their own pilot of course; using commercial airlines is too risky in anything less than the direst of emergencies, although they will if they have to. Consequences can be dealt with as and when they arise, if they can’t be avoided altogether.
Naturally if they do need to fly, they have to break their pilot out of the V.A. hospital before they can go anywhere, but hey, they do that all the time. It’s no big deal; security is pretty lax. Half the time Murdock breaks himself out anyway, or at the very least expedites matters from the inside, which simplifies things when they’re in a hurry. Murdock is also adept at acquiring aircraft for their use, sometimes even without any money changing hands, and most of them hold together, more or less. It's easier to 'borrow' a plane or helicopter that nobody else is using because it’s faulty than to get their hands on one that's completely flight ready. So what if they crash occasionally? It gets them on the ground, generally in good enough shape to continue their mission. Murdock may be on the downhill side of crazy most of the time, but he’s mastered the art of crashing and usually gives them enough warning that they can brace for impact. It can be quite… exhilarating, if you’re not of a nervous disposition.
B.A.'s opinion differs of course. It’s perhaps unfair to say he hates Murdock, but there are some things the two definitely don’t see eye to eye on. Under normal circumstances, and regardless of what they might be facing, B.A. Baracus is as brave as a lion. No, scratch that. Bravery implies the overcoming of fears, and B.A. fears nothing; the way he’s built he doesn’t need to. Let’s just say he’s not afraid, but he’s made it very clear that he doesn’t like aircraft, or flying, which is a tiny bit of a problem, but nothing the rest of the team can't handle.
Whether or not B.A. actually ever believes his team-mates when they tell him he fainted, or passed out, or simply slept right through a long road trip because he was so tired, is anybody’s guess, but if he chooses to say he does believe them, well, who’s going to argue with him? And if he says he doesn’t believe them, they’re usually too busy trying to keep him from killing them to worry about it. He can be quite unreasonable at times. So, whenever they need to fly, they find a way to render him unconscious and then just have to hope he’ll stay that way until they’re all safely back on the ground again. It’s infinitely preferable to having him wake up when they’re in midair and go crazier than a dozen Murdocks on a bad day.
So they keep a good stock of tranquillisers available at all times, along with an assortment of physical restraints, just in case they’re required, and they lie trough their teeth while they smile as they tell B.A. that no, of course they’re not flying anywhere, they’ll travel by road even if it takes them a few hours longer to reach their destination. Then all they need to do is hope their friend buys into their lies just one more time. Really, it’s for his own good.
