Summary: Rose isn’t too happy about what’s on the menu.

Alien food could be a bit daunting.

 
“They’re going to cook that, right?” Rose asked dubiously.
 

Jack shrugged. “Not every culture cooks. Some races think cooking destroys the flavour of certain dishes, and others just never developed the habit. Besides, not everything on earth is cooked.”

 
“Yeah, but that’s stuff like fruit and some vegetables.”
 

“And sushi.”
 

“I prefer fish and chips. What is that anyway?”
 

“Vervix,” the Doctor said. “It’s a sort of carnivorous caterpillar, very popular. They’re marinaded in spices and something similar to lime juice.”

 
“So we’re expected to eat raw caterpillar?”
 

Jack grinned. “When in Rome…”

I love the taste of lime, so I'd probably have to try vervix. I've eaten chocolate covered crickets so I suppose I could handle vervix. Hopefully I'd like it more than I did oysters on the half shell.
