A/N: Double drabble.
There’s a British adage along the lines of Tea can fix anything. No matter the problem, no matter the crisis, people all over Britain reach for the kettle and the teapot, or the teabags. Mostly teabags and a mug these days, which Jack’s Doctor probably considers an appalling lowering of standards, but it’s a quicker way of delivering that lifesaving elixir than warming the teapot, adding the correct amount of looseleaf tea, then letting it brew. In a crisis, speed is no doubt of the essence.
But that’s the rest of Britain, and this is Cardiff, Wales, and more importantly, the Torchwood Hub. There’s a canister of tea in the cupboard, a box of teabags, all the necessary accoutrements, there for guests, but tea is not used as an all-purpose fix-it. It has its uses, but Torchwood has different methods of dealing with crises. They’ve survived enough of them.
“End of the world again, is it?” Ianto asks.
“Might as well be.” Jack doesn’t look happy. “The Vestra Nations make the Sycorax look like puppies. They’re aggressive, and they live to fight.”
“Right.” Ianto takes several thermos flasks from the cupboard. “I’d better make sure there’s plenty of coffee then.”
