A/N: Double drabble.
Mornings like this, camping seemed like being in a completely different world. The sun was just coming up, somewhere, although it couldn’t be seen through the trees, but right now, even the trees themselves were scarcely visible, swathed with mist, like cobwebs enshrouded everything.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Ryo whispered close to his ear, not wanting to break the breathless hush. It made Dee shiver slightly. Everything was poised, waiting. He didn’t answer, just nodded, waiting along with everything else, as overhead, in the branches of the trees, the birds let loose their first sleepy, warbling notes. Soon the entire forest would be full of birdsong, they just needed to tune up first, like any orchestra.
“Come on.” Ryo’s hand touched Dee’s shoulder. “Get your boots on. We’ll go for a walk before breakfast.”
“What if we get lost?” Dee eyed the mist uncertainly; he’d never seen it so thick. It would be easy to lose their way; they could only see a few yards.
Ryo grinned. “We’ll be fine, the mist will have burned off in an hour or so. Trust me, there’s something magical about walking through a misty forest, like being the only people on the entire planet.”
