“How serious is it?” Jack asked, fretting.
“Impossible to tell through all the mud and blood,” Ianto replied. “I’ll know more when I’ve washed off the worst. What I want to know is why it was with you in the first place. It should’ve been here, where it belongs.”
“I didn’t take it on purpose! Must’ve been in my pocket when I grabbed my coat on the way out. Owen said it was an emergency, and he was right. The rest of the team couldn’t handle those Mizzigigs by themselves. They might sound cute, but they’re not, they’re vicious little gremlins with more teeth than they know what to do with.” Jack sighed, went to run his hand through his hair, then stopped. He was smothered in mud and blood, from dying after one of the aliens sank its teeth into his femoral artery. “I should get cleaned up.”
“Yes, you should. Use the shower downstairs, if you don’t mind. Don’t want Meriel seeing you like this.”
“What about…” Jack pointed at the ragged object in Ianto’s hands.
“It’s not as resilient as you, but I’ll do what I can. Meriel will never forgive you for killing her toy bunny.”
