How many times had Buffy wished she could go back to being just an ordinary teenage girl? She’d never truly appreciated how easy her life had been back then; she’d thought school, and cheerleading, and the demands of her parents, who were forever fighting, were stressful enough. If she’d only known then what she knows now.

Sometimes, these days, it feels like she knows too much, but about all the wrong things. She doesn’t know enough of what she’s supposed to be learning in school, she’s out of touch with fashion trends and who’s popular, what hairstyles and makeup are in and what’s considered
passé. But she knows at least a dozen ways to kill a vampire, and the best ways to dispose of a body, and how to get a variety of unlikely stains out of most fabrics. Those are useful skills, but not the kind of things her thirteen-year-old self would ever have imagined needing to know.

She’d been so naïve back then, but she’s long since lost her innocence, become worldly. If she could turn back time, leave this life behind… But she knows she wouldn’t, even if she could. She has an important job to do.

"It feels like she knows too much, but about all the wrong things." Speaking for myself, I'm not sure that feeling ever goes away.
