Summary: The Three might have killed Buffy if Angel hadn’t come to her rescue.

Three vamps at once was hardly a fair fight, and this trio were tougher than most. Buffy didn’t want to admit it, but if Angel hadn’t shown up when he did, she might not have survived. Even with his help, the battle didn’t go their way; Angel got slashed in the chest, and the two of them barely managed to make an escape. Well, the start of an escape. The trio of vamps were still hot on their heels.

 
She tugged at Angel’s arm, turning them both down her street. “Come on, this way!” The least she could do after he’d come to her assistance was to take him with her. If she left him behind, the vamps would kill him, and she didn’t want that. He might not be around much, but she sort of liked him anyway, and she definitely owed him.
 

Opening the front door of her house, she urged Angel inside and slammed the door behind them. They were safe now, according to Angel; vampires couldn’t enter without an invitation. But now Buffy had a boy in her house; it was a good thing her mom wasn’t home. That would have led to some awkward questions!

Although her mom DOES come home while Angel is there. Buffy lies and says he's helping her with her schoolwork. History.
