Summary: One of the universe’s most dangerous creatures has come through the Rift.

A/N: Double drabble.
 


 

Of all the intergalactic vermin in existence, the worst by far were snurrels. From the name, they sounded cute and harmless, but they were anything but. They were rodents, of course, because anything with a habit of gnawing on things tended to be a problem. They were slightly bigger than earth rats, but without tails, and while their undersides were covered in dense, short fur, their upper bodies were covered in thick scales like armour plating.
 

Their teeth were like sharpened chisels, and never stopped growing, so they would gnaw on anything and everything, even when they weren’t hungry. They also bred faster than anything Jack had ever heard of. They would even give Tribbles a run for their money.
 

And now, there was one right here, on earth, in the Hub. Jack’s blood ran cold. Even a single snurrel was a threat. It could already be pregnant; they could be overrun in less than a week!

 
“What is THAT doing here?” Jack pointed at the creature in the glass tank.
 
 
Owen shrugged. “That’s what came through the Rift. It’s injured.”

 
“You’re sure it’s the only one?”
 

“Yeah. Why?”
 

“Kill it. Now!”
 

“What?”
 

“Let it live and it’ll destroy everything!”
