Help?

Okay, here's the question: Obviously, I already have a journal here, but if I wanted a second journal in order to import all the contents from my LJ, how would I go about doing that? I can see the Create a Community tab, but there doesn't seem to be one for creating another personal account...

Can anyone help me with that?

I think you can log out and create another journal here and then import from there. However, things are under such heavy load with the mass exodus from LJ that it might be simpler to import to your current journal, if that's not a bad thing to do. (I have a secondary journal at LJ in which I've stored fic, and am seriously considering mirroring that here and importing from there, unless LJ has already deleted and purged it.)

I've had my DW account for years and I post my fic to both, but I'm hoping to create a separate mirror back-up of my LJ with all the posts and comments, just in case LJ decides to delete mine, that way (hopefully) I won't lose anything. I don't intend to leave LJ entirely unless they force me to though, and I'll keep posting there unless they stop me.

You can import content directly from that account over there to this one here without creating; that's what I've been doing every handful of days.

I don't want to do that though, because I post daily to both, so my fics are already here, everything will get jumbled and I won't know what is from where, but I do want a mirror of everything that's on my LJ, including comments, in case LJ decides to delete my account, so I need to create a new account here just for that. Easier said than done, apparently. =/

So what I did is that my regular non-fic entries are for the most part access only, and then the fic is all public. So if folks want to read just the fic, they can subscribe and not request access. If they're interested in reading my non-fic stuff, then they have access to the access list. That's because I was really bad about maintaining a community alongside my personal journal.

My problem was that I'd been posting separately to journals on DW and LJ, so most of what was on my LJ was already on my DW journal, I didn't want to end up with duplicate posts, but I didn't want to lose all the comments and the few posts I made just to LJ, so I managed to set up another separate account to import my LJ to, that way I can continue as I have been, but I've got my LJ contents saved where I can get at everything. I might download posts with comments over time so I can save them on my harddrive, but with over 3000 of them, that might take a while, lol!

I don't have a lot of personal posts, but I honestly don't care who reads them because they're not THAT personal, nothing I'm not comfortable with other people reading.

I don't mind either for the most part, especially now. Things are a lot different regarding fandom and such, and I don't quite have to hide it like I did a decade ago. Mainly I just want to be able to talk about my job and vent about politics from time to time without issue. Because of the current administration, I'm restricted on what I can say via public social media.

Yeah, I feel for you. I'm in England, but even so, last night I dreamed that Trump invaded my house and I was trying to make him leave. *headdesk*

I noticed you're a fellow knitter! I should say I'm kind of a lapsed knitter at present because of life and writing taking precedence. I did start a sweater last year, but I haven't got all that far yet. It's been on hold for months. One of these days I'll get back to it, if I can tear myself away from the computer for long enough. Too many writing challenges and not enough time.

Oh yes! I've gotten back into my knitting a lot because there's a new yarn shop run by a Whovian, and it's where all the geeky people in our area go to knit once a week. It's been fantastic. My free time has been spent between knitting and writing fic.

And yeah, I'm interested to see what it'll be like when I go see the in-laws this year. My spouse is from Liverpool, and we go over there every other year as we can.

That's so cool, having a place to gather with fellow geeks and do the things you enjoy! We used to have three yarn shops, but they're all long gone. Along with most of the other interesting small businesses, to make way for more supermarkets we don't need, and a tram system hardly anyone wanted. The whole country is going to the dogs, no one in the government listens to what the ordinary people want or don't want.

I have more yarn than I'll ever used because I bought a lot, then inherited all my aunt's knitting supplies,and then my mum's. Some of my sweaters are wearing out so I need to make some new ones, but I think I have four part made that I lost track of where I'd got to on the pattern, or the number of rows, or whatever. One day maybe I'll work them out.
