HELP!

I was happily writing a new fic in MS Word, hit something wrong as I was typing, and now there's a dot between every word and a bunch of those paragraph symbols like a backwards letter P with a vertical line after it, and I can't get rid of them!

How can I get it back to normal? Even opening a new document results in the same thing.

Panic over, I think I fixed it.

If any of my friends who make icons could create one for me with the Whooping Snakes from the animated movie Abominable, I would be so happy! I love Whooping Snakes!
badly_knitted: (Hello)

Seeking someone who could do a quick once-over on three short Torchwood fics for torchwood_fest.

Two are under 1k, and third about 1.4k. They shouldn't need a lot of work, just a check for typos and to ensure they make sense to someone who isn't me *grins*

(If further enticement is needed, one of them features Herman the dragon...)

The Spring/Summer fest is now underway at
[community profile] torchwood_fest  - posting is still some time off, doesn't start until July 1st, so there's plenty of time to write something. The prompts are up and there are over a hundred to choose from; no need to claim prompts though, they're all open for anyone, all you need to do is write.

Prompts are here on LJ or here on dreamwidth - both lists are the same so take your pick.

BETA NEEDED

I'm also looking for one or more people willing to beta the fics I write for the Fest - so far I have one ready for looking over, so if anyone can spare the time, I'd be grateful. They'll probably all be on the short side, the first one is just over 1400 words. If you can volunteer, comment below or PM me. =D

The Fest itself could also use betas if anyone's interested!

Prompting for the spring/summer fest at
[community profile] torchwood_fest  ends on May 13th, and so far there's almost zero interest. Come on, Torchwood fans, it doesn't matter whether you're a member of the community or not, just please stop by and leave some prompts. We can't have a fest without prompts, and no prompts also means no new stories for the readers among you to read. You don't need to commit to writing anything in order to leave prompts, just give us some ideas of fics you'd like to read!

Pretty please? I'm begging here!

Help?

Okay, here's the question: Obviously, I already have a journal here, but if I wanted a second journal in order to import all the contents from my LJ, how would I go about doing that? I can see the Create a Community tab, but there doesn't seem to be one for creating another personal account...

Can anyone help me with that?

badly_knitted: (Hello)

Hello, friends! I'm seeking beta assistance for an as yet unknown number of fics for
torchwood_fest. So far I have one just under 2k ready for betaing, and there will be at least one more which I haven't started writing yet, but more likely two or three as I'd like to do the weekly prompts for the Fest as well.

If anyone can offer their services, basically to check I haven't made any silly mistakes or missed a typo or two, please either comment below or send a PM

Also, please consider joining in the fun by writing for the fest. There are prompts at
this post, no sign-ups necessary, as well as weekly prompts, or you can just write something else winter themed. as long as it's Torchwood, it's welcome!

Next week, posting begins for the December fest at torchwood_fest[community profile] torchwood_fest! (I know, it's not YET December, but it's pretty close!)

We'll have plenty of fic and art for everyone to enjoy and we encourage everyone to come join us!

As some of my F-list know, I'm in the process of starting a new multi-fandom drabble community, with weekly prompts to inspire all those drabblers among us whose favouirite fandoms have no active drabble-specific community of their own.

I'm looking for potential co-mods and also for someone who could create a community icon once the community has a name.

So far, there are three possible names for this soon-to-be community. So, let's see if I can do this right and add a poll...

Is there anyone still around who'd be interested in betaing one of my fics for December Fest at
torchwood_fest?

So far I'm working on two, they're due for posting by January 2nd so there's plenty of time still, and the fics aren't finished yet. Looks like both will be 2000+ words each, and there's always a chance that I might write more for the Fest, so I'd like to line up a beta or two in advance if I can.

Also, come on writers, there are festive prompts going begging for December Fest, so if you think you might have time to write something Christmassy, then get over there. It's very relaxed, you don't need to claim a prompt or sign up officially, just write for any prompt that catches your eye.
Prompt post is here
. Fills only need to be 500 words or over, that shouldn't be too hard to fit in!

Hello again, my wonderful f-list, I come seeking help again!

One of my remaining prompts is 'Compliments' so I'm trying to compile a list of instances during the show (or the radio plays) where Jack and Ianto compliment each other - or even just say something complimentary about each other to the team. So far, most of what I can remember is from Fragments - Love the coat, Love the suit, etc. - and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Ianto's 'You're good on roofs' line and saying to the team that Jack is dashing. There must be others, but I can't think and I don't have time to watch two seasons of Torchwood right now, not when I need to keep writing, so I'm hoping some of you might have better memories than I've got and could help me out. *puppy dog eyes* Pretty please?

Does anyone have any ideas? If you can remember the episode as well, that would be even better so I can keep to chronological order.

Thank you in advance =D

badly_knitted: (Hello)

Does anyone happen to know if it's mentioned anywhere in Torchwood or Doctor Who exactly when and/or how Jack came into possession of the Doctor's severed hand?

I've been asked for a drabble on the subject but I don't have time to watch all of Torchwood and the relevant Doctor Who episodes in the hopes of possibly finding something about it.

Help, please? *begs prettily*

Hello, dear F-List, I come seeking help, and hopefully a co-writer if anyone is interested.

I have a fic in mind to write, but it requires a certain amount of medical knowledge (particularly of prosthetics and possibly anti-rejection treatments) that I simply don't have. Nor do I have the skill to research such things.

I have friends I can bounce ideas off, but I need someone who can help write the fic and make any medical stuff at least sound plausible. This is WAY out of my comfort zone - it's a serious Torchwood AU with Ianto having a different reason for needing to get a job with Torchwood Three.

There's no rush to write it, I don't have a deadline except that I'd like to get it written sometime this year. So, anyone care to have a go at writing with me? I've never co-written anything, so I don't know how it works, but I guess we can figure it out as we go if anyone is brave enough, lol!

As some of you may know, at the start of this year I challenged myself to write and post 100 drabbles this year.

I thought that was quite an ambitious goal, but the total currently stands at 167 and I still have three more to post for
tw100's current challenge. That will make 170, and that got me thinking - I'd only need another 30 to reach 200...

Am I crazy? Probably. But still, 30 isn't a lot, could I actually do it? I do have four other drabbles written, so I'd really just need to write another 26... Of course, it would mean I'd have to post two drabbles a day on a couple of days, but I've done that before.

There's just one snag - what do I write? The
tw100
prompts will help, but I can't see me managing another 26 drabbles from those alone, which is where you come in, my dear friends.

I need prompts! It can be just one word, lyrics, a line of dialogue, a scenario, anything at all. If you would like a drabble written for you, just leave a prompt below.

With your help, maybe I really could reach 200!

Okay, so far I have written three Butterfly drabbles (Elusive Butterfly, Adhesive Butterfly and Impulsive Butterfly), and I'm working on a fourth which I already have a title for.... but, I'm hoping to continue the series and for that I need more titles. I want to stay with the idea I've used so far, therefore I need more words ending with 'ive'.

I'm making a list, but most that I've come up with so far don't seem to have much potential as titles (at least they're not proving inspiring), so here's where I call on my friends (and anyone else who happens to wander into my journal) for ideas and suggestions. Please can you rummage through your brains and see if you can come up with more words ending in 'ive'?

Suggesters of winning words will get the drabble using that word as the title dedicated to them!
