Summary: Something’s wrong with Nosy, which is a problem because it hasn’t learned to communicate with its human friends yet.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Something was up with Nosy. The Fluff had been uncharacteristically fretful since they’d arrived home, mooching about the apartment restlessly, and now it wouldn’t go to bed.
Jack had tucked it in twice, read it a bedtime story, but then five minutes later it was back in the lounge, goggling at him in the way that only Fluffs could.
“What’s wrong, Nosy?” That was the problem; intelligent though the alien seemed, there was a language barrier between it and its human friends. Nosy could already understand quite a few human words, but it didn’t have the right vocal apparatus to handle human languages. All it could do was hum.
Nosy slithered towards the door.
Now Jack was really baffled. “You want to go back to the Hub?”
“HUM!”
“Well, alright.” Grabbing coat and shoes, Jack followed. “Ianto!” he called. “Nosy wants to go back to the Hub.”
“Why?”
“How should I know?”
A short while later, Jack pulled into the Hub’s underground garage. Nosy slithered out of the car at high speed, disappearing in the direction of the night duty room. Moments later it was back, clutching its toy teddy in its mouth.
“Ah, you left Fred behind. Mystery solved.”
