“Man, I’m beat!” Dee groaned, collapsing onto the sofa.
 

“Tell me about it.” Ryo flopped down beside his lover, his legs aching and his feet throbbing. “I can’t remember ever feeling this tired just from a day out.”
 

“What happened to our stamina? We’re cops, used to chasin’ suspects, poundin’ the sidewalks, workin’ double shifts… We can’t be gettin’ old already. Hell, I’m only thirty-one!”

 
“What about me? I’m used to hiking for miles, I do karate training practically every day, and two years ago I ran the New York marathon!”
 

“Ya finished in a pretty respectable time too,” Dee agreed. “I was proud of you.”
 

“And now look at us! Would you mind if I ordered takeout tonight? I’m too tired to cook.”
 

“Fine with me, I’m almost too tired to eat, could probably fall asleep right here.”
 

“Me too. It was fun though, wasn’t it?”
 

“Fun? Not the word I would’a used, reckon we both need our heads examinin’. What were we even thinkin’, volunteerin’ for that? Two of us against twenty-three kids, aged three to fifteen… We were seriously outnumbered.”

 
“They enjoyed the zoo.”
 

“Pretty sure I’m goin’ grey after that. Don’t know how Mother does it!
