Spoilers: Brief mention of events in The Dead Line.
Summary: Ianto isn’t a talkative man, but that’s okay.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto’s never been much of a talker, he even told Jack that once, albeit when Jack was in a coma and probably not listening anyway. Although… from some of the things he said later, maybe he had heard after all. Anyway, that’s beside the point. The fact is that Ianto’s never been all that good at putting feelings into words.
Perhaps it’s because none of the words available to him seem to fit. Whatever the reason, he’s always been the quiet, reserved kind, not given to bragging for the sake of it, or gossiping about who did what to whom. His thoughts, feelings, and opinions are his own. He feels no pressing need to share them.
Curiously, despite his larger-than-life persona, and his willingness to talk about anything, anytime, Jack seems to understand better than anyone Ianto has ever met.
They talk to each other all the time, sometimes in words, but mostly in other ways. They speak with their eyes, their smiles, their faces. Ianto can say more with one eyebrow than most people can using every word in their vocabulary.
Body language is far more eloquent than speech. He and Jack converse all night without saying a word.
