Double Drabble: Bad Language

Title: Bad Language

Summary: Ianto didn’t mean to swear, it just slipped out…

A/N: Double drabble.
 


 
Jack was almost seven months along and there was so much that still needed doing before the baby arrived. Ianto was beginning to feel a bit frazzled, if he was honest.
 

Naturally, Jack was no longer able to do fieldwork, hadn’t been since they’d first discovered he was pregnant, so as second in command, taking charge during field missions now fell to Ianto, on top of all his other duties. Add to that babyproofing their flat, buying all the necessary baby stuff, and decorating the nursery… It was a good thing Ianto was immortal or he might have keeled over out of sheer exhaustion.

 
Not that Jack wasn’t helping. He was still running Torchwood from the Hub, and he’d done more than his share of the decorating, apparently finding the smell of fresh paint irresistible. What they’d used was supposed to be odour-free, but fifty-first century senses were much more acute.
 

Ianto shook his head, as he tightened the screws on the new cot. Then the screwdriver slipped, slicing deep into his palm.
 

“FUCK IT!” he yelled, hopping around, clutching the injury.
 

Jack covered his belly with both hands, looking shocked. “Ianto! Watch your language in front of the baby!”

I love that Jack is offended that Ianto swore in front of the not yet hatched baby.

Ianto would be rolling his eyes if he wasn't in so much pain. Jack is very protective of his baby bump, doing his best to cover their daughter's ears. Unfortunately, despite all Jack's caution, she's destined to learn her first bad word from Uncle Owen ;)

You should read my Jack and Ianto baby stories. I haven't finished yet, but I think there are 2 in the series so far.

You should read mine, but there are... A lot *grins* I honestly don't know how many there are by now, but they're all part of my Nosy-Verse. There are quite a lot of drabbles as well, but I only have them organised in a special master list over on LJ. One day maybe I'll get them sorted out over here too, but it's a huge job. At the moment they're just mixed in with my other Torchwood drabbles.

I'll look yours up when I have time.

What about moving your stuff over at AO3. That has to be easier than moving them over here to Dreamwidth.

Everything is already on AO3, as well as both here and on LJ, it's just that the Master List of Torchwood drabbles is all in one here on dreamwidth because posts here can be bigger. I've had to split the drabble Master List on LJ into so many parts, and I separated all the Nosy-Verse drabbles into their own Master List, accessed at the bottom of the main Nosy-Verse Master List, with links to sub-lists so I could gather the parts of drabble series together. There's a sub-list for all of the Meriel drabbles. Just haven't got around to doing the same with the Torchwood drabbles here.

All my Master Lists are linked on the left-hand sidebar.

Sorting stuff into series and getting all the parts in the right order (because I don't tend to write the parts of my various 'verses in order) is so much more complicated on AO3. It's easier here because I just add new fics to the Master Lists, slotting them in wherever they should go. Although, the Nosy-Verse fics are a bit out of order.

I subscribed to your AO3 page. Before I read I want to finish the newest prompt fic from drabble_zone and possibl start the new prompt for Torchwoos100. I need to go back and see what that prompt was I saw it earlier and forgot what it was I was bad I had a very long nap. I think I slept too long and am now groggy.

I can't nap during the day and I'm SO tired I just want to sleep.

New torchwood100 prompt is Switch. I know, because I spent half the day writing drabbles for it *grins*

I'm the opposite. I sleep better in the daytime these days. Not the best habit

I'm all messes up today. I've slept off and on all day. I'm not sure when I'm going to go to bed. I feel like a zombie.

I'm hoping this is a better day. I changed sinus medicine and I seem to be breathing better. Hopefully I'll be less zombielike today. I need to go run a couple of errands. I'm the surrogate aunt to my friends' kids and the youngest one is turning 19 on Saturday and I need to ship her birthday present. I also need to go to the bank to put some paperwork back in the safety deposit box. I should drive across town and drop some boxes to Goodwill, but I don't know if I have the gumption to make an hour round trip to haul myself to the Goodwill. At least I can pick-up yesterday's mail, get the birthday present shipped and get to the bank. Those things are like 5 minutes down the road.

My sister's birthday is Sunday, and I posted her card this morning - I'm lucky to have a postbox at the end of my street, less than a minute's walk away. After I dropped it in the box I realised I hadn't put a stamp on it *headdesk* I'll have to phone her tonight and confess. I hope your errands go better than mine did!

An hour's round trip is a long way. I don';t blame you if you don't want to do that by yourself.

I got done with the quick stuff. I didn't make the road trip to the other side of town. At least I got my mail from yesterday, which was just junk, did the bank and shipped my niece's birthday present. I'll either do the trip to the other side of town later today or tomorrow.

I still can't believe that I came home to coverage of a possible terrorist attack in New York. They haven't called it that yet, but I don't know what else to call it. There were some sort of devices detonated and at least one shooter. 13 were injured so far. I don't know what else you call it.

That's good that you got the easier stuff done, but what an awful thing to return home to! I don't know what else you'd call it either. Sure sounds like terrorism to me. The world is falling apart.

I took another of those insanely long naps, but I'm watching the coverage of New York again and they're still hunting the shooter and not calling him a terrorist. I'm with you. don't know what else to call him. He shot 10 people. Fortunately no one has died.

Shootings like that are so terrifying, and they keep happening. I'm glad no one has died, but I really hope the shooter will be caught soon.

The sooner they catch him the better. I guess if there's a good thing it's that he left his gun behind. Of, course., there's not way to know if he has another one.

They often do have more than one gun, but maybe if they can get prints off the gun left behind there might be a slim chance of identifying him. If his prints ae on file somewhere.

That's what I'm hoping for that he's in the system and he's left prints behind.
