Characters: Dee, Ryo, Mother.

Setting: During the manga.
Summary: Dee knows he’s blessed to have two such special people in his life.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Care’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble and a half, 250 words.
Right from the start there was something about Ryo that drew Dee to him. Not just his obvious good looks and slim physique, it was more than that. It was the way his new partner was able to connect with the murder victim’s kid, the way he opened his heart to someone he knew next to nothing about, the way he was willing, even determined, to offer the brat a home… Dee found himself envying the boy. He wanted Ryo to care that much about him.
Weeks later, he realised something he should probably have noticed right from the start: Ryo was a lot like Mother. He cared about everyone, had the same bottomless well of compassion and kindness, was always willing to help anyone who needed it in any way he could, and he never judged others solely on what they looked like.
The longer Dee knew Ryo, the more he knew he’d do whatever it took to keep the man in his life, even if just as a friend. He still wanted more, but even friendship would be better than nothing. Like Mother, Ryo let him get away with too much, but also made him want to be a better person, to be worthy of his attention.
People as good and as selflessly caring as Mother and Ryo were rare. To have two such people in his life was far more than Dee deserved, but he was determined to cherish and protect them. Surely they must be angels.
