Summary: Travelling by himself, the Doctor decides he needs to find a new companion.

This was why the Doctor preferred to travel with companions. For all that she was organic technology, and sentient in her own way, the TARDIS wasn’t exactly chatty. She could communicate with him when she chose to, but she didn’t seem to crave company the way he did.
Without a companion, someone to talk to and share adventures with, the Doctor rattled around the vast interior of his time- and spaceship, alone with his thoughts and memories, with nothing to distract him from them. That led to brooding, which was seldom a good thing.
Even a Time Lord needed friends.
