Summary: Meriel needs a believable excuse for not handing in one of her homework assignments.

A/N: Double drabble.
 
 

Meriel always tried to be good, because that was how her dads had raised her. She did her best not to lie, unless it was to spare someone’s feelings, or to protect her non-human friends, she tidied up after herself, helped around the house, and always did her homework. Except now, one of her homework assignments was ruined and there wasn’t time to do it again.
 

She would have to tell her teacher something, because she’d never failed to hand in an assignment, and she really didn’t want to get in trouble, but she absolutely could not tell anyone the truth.
 

The problem was that her dad had brought work home with him, which her tad had told him never to do. But really, her dad hadn’t had much choice because baby aliens were still babies, and it had needed looking after, and she probably shouldn’t have left her homework on the dining table in the first place…

 
“You might have to blame the twins,” her Taddy said, looking at the shredded paper scattered everywhere. “Say they scribbled all over it. After all, they’re only two.”

 
“Mm,” Meriel agreed. “I don’t think Miss Thomas would believe an alien ate it.”

Yeah, I'd be skeptical. Claiming the twins wrote all over it is much more believable.

It's sort of a white lie, and Meriel will re-do her destroyed homework. Plus she has Ianto's permission to tell an untruth.

LOL. Yeah, the dog ate my homework thing doesn't work either. Luckily, the twins are the right age to make a good excuse.

Since they don't have a dog, Meriel can't use that and 'The Pteranodon ate my homework' wouldn't be a good idea either. The twins get to be scapegoats, they're destructive enough anyway, and it's not like they'll ever know, lol!
