Summary: Jack has gone, and Ianto isn’t enjoying being alone.

A/N: Double drabble.
 


 

Ianto had never minded being alone, he’d spent a lot of time by himself when he was growing up, his parents both busy working, his sister too much older than him to want to bother with her little brother.
 

Being alone meant being able to immerse himself in whatever he was reading, and he enjoyed those hours of peace and solitude, when nobody was yelling, and he could simply exist in his own little bubble, where the real world couldn’t intrude.
 

He’d become less of a loner as he’d grown older, hanging out with other kids his age, but he’d still been just as happy with his own company. He’d just had fewer opportunities to enjoy it.
 

Now, with Lisa dead the past few months, and Jack wherever it was he’d buggered off to, Ianto found himself alone again, and it didn’t feel as good as it used to. It wasn’t the same as escaping from his noisy teammates to snatch an hour or two for himself down in the quiet of the archives. Now, the others were too busy with their own problems to pay him any attention. He felt isolated, adrift. He wondered if Jack would ever return.

I feel bad for Ianto. I'm a recluse, but even I need to be noticed once in a while.

Same here. I like my own company, but days go by without me seeing anyone and sometimes I need to talk to another living person.

Ianto will cope though, and Jack will return to him.
