A/N: Double drabble.
“What’s the big secret anyway?” Andy said, frowning at Ianto. He liked Ianto, his fellow countryman was polite and much more considerate of Cardiff’s police than Captain Harkness, in his poncy coat, ever was. “Torchwood’s just Special Ops, and if anyone has the right to know what you lot get up to, swanning around Cardiff like you own the place, it’s the police. We should be working together, or at least cooperating.”
“We are,” Ianto pointed out, hands in the pockets of his trousers. “Cooperating, that is.”
“Right. We have a crime scene, then along comes your lot, and we’ve suddenly been cooperated right out of whatever’s going on. Sometimes we’re allowed to direct traffic, or keep nosy buggers out of your way, but you’re in charge, and that boss of yours makes sure we know it.”
“I wish I could explain,” Ianto said, with a sympathetic smile. “I know you’re curious, anyone would be, but we have good reasons for keeping what we do a secret. You’re really better off not knowing. Our secrecy is as much for your safety as our own, and believe me, you’ll sleep better at night.”
“Can’t be that bad.”
“You have no idea.”
