Summary: December might not be the best month for the beach, but it works for Ianto and Jack’s family.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
The Harkness-Jones family were having a day at the beach. December might not be the ideal month for it, but the middle of winter had its advantages, mainly that there were unlikely to be many people around. That was important, considering the fact that this particular family consisted of two immortal men, their five-year-old biological daughter, and a furry, snakelike alien. It was usually best if they could avoid having to Retcon a beach full of holidaymakers.
At least it was one of the milder days, cloudy, but so far dry except for the spray whipped up from the sea. It was good beachcombing weather, after the storms of the past few days, and the sand was damp enough for building sandcastles, but Meriel had other things on her mind.
“Meriel, please don’t bury Nosy.”
“Why not, Taddy? Nosy doesn’t mind.”
“Because it’ll take hours to get all the sand out of its fluff. There’ll be sand all over the flat, and Nosy will be itchy and uncomfortable for days.”
“Oh. Sorry, Nosy.” Meriel kissed the furry snout and set about un-burying her friend, brushing as much sand off as she could.
Ianto sighed. So much for a relaxing day.
